StockScans Daily - What Management Is Saying #09

Daily lessons from the people running the businesses

What I Learnt From Listening to Management Interviews Today

October 14, 2026 | StockScans Daily Management Interview Series

23 management interviews were published today.

I went through them looking for something beyond the usual revenue growth, margin expansion and bullish guidance. The interesting part is often hiding in a different place: a new business opportunity, an uncomfortable question from the anchor, or a target that management will have to answer for over the next few quarters.

Here are the 7 interviews I found worth your time today.

1. Transformers & Rectifiers India: The nuclear opportunity

Sometimes, the interesting part of a business is what it is preparing to become.

The interview highlighted 60%+ revenue growth, the fastest in five quarters, alongside the company's first-of-its-kind participation in nuclear-related order inflows.

What caught my attention was the combination of a new opportunity and planned backward integration.

Management considers a 16% EBITDA margin for FY27 a reasonable target. Several backward-integration plants are expected to begin functioning from Q4, potentially supporting improvement in the second half.

What I'm tracking:

  • How much of the order book comes from nuclear versus conventional power.

  • Whether EBITDA margins meet or exceed the 16% FY27 target.

  • Whether backward-integration plants start operations on schedule and deliver the expected benefits.

2. Canara Bank: The uncomfortable question behind strong results

Loan growth looks good until you ask how it will be funded.

Canara Bank's management interviews stood out because the discussion went beyond headline earnings.

Net interest income grew more than 20% year-on-year, while NIM remained within management's guided 2.5–2.6% range. Asset quality also improved.

But there was an important question.

Advances grew 19.5% year-on-year, compared with deposit growth of 13%. How can the bank sustain this difference?

Management discussed the use of bulk deposits, noting that the bulk deposit book was around ₹50,000 crore. Another detail worth examining: operating profit rose only 2%, partly as other income declined.

This is where the analysis gets interesting. Strong NII growth does not automatically translate into equally strong operating profit growth.

What I'm tracking:

  • Whether deposit growth catches up with loan growth.

  • CASA trends and dependence on bulk deposits.

  • Whether other income recovers and operating profit growth improves.

3. Titan Company: The festive demand test

Will consumers keep buying jewellery when gold prices are elevated?

Titan's jewellery management discussed the recent performance of Tanishq and the Titan Jewellery Division.

Arun Narayan described the past nine to ten months as very good and indicated that the company had planned for the next 30 days of festive selling to perform well.

The coming festive period offers investors an opportunity to assess whether this momentum can sustain itself amid higher gold and silver prices.

What I'm tracking:

  • Dhanteras and Diwali footfall and billing trends.

  • Whether festive demand remains strong despite elevated gold prices.

  • Whether the momentum described by management translates into continued business growth.

4. KIMS Hospitals: The debt-repayment question

Raising capital is one thing. Showing what it accomplishes is another.

The interview with Dr. B. Bhaskara Rao, CMD of KIMS Hospitals, offered an interesting perspective on a founder-doctor leading a listed hospital chain.

The more important financial question concerned the nearly ₹1,200 crore raised through a QIP in June, primarily for debt repayment.

The key question is how much of that capital has actually been used to repay debt.

What I'm tracking:

  • The extent of debt repayment using QIP proceeds.

  • Changes in interest costs and the balance sheet.

  • Updates on new hospital additions and expansion plans.

5. SS Retail: A two-year promise worth monitoring

Ambitious guidance becomes useful when it can be measured quarter by quarter.

SS Retail reported 59% revenue growth. EBITDA margins expanded from 5.5% to 5.75%, while PAT margins improved from 2.5% to 3%. The interview also cited a 61% rise in profits.

The headline guidance was ambitious: management aims to double revenue in two years and add 215 stores.

That gives investors a clear set of milestones against which future performance can be evaluated.

What I'm tracking:

  • Quarterly store additions against the 215-store target.

  • Revenue growth relative to the two-year doubling ambition.

  • Whether margins continue to expand as the store network grows.

6. Imagicaaworld Entertainment: A turnaround with a geographic catch

A turnaround story becomes more interesting when you understand what could derail it.

The interview discussed the possibility of a turnaround beginning in Q2, while acknowledging that Q2 is seasonally weak.

One number stood out: revenue per visitor was cited at roughly ₹915–970 generally, compared with around ₹1,774 in the Mumbai–Pune belt.

That is a substantial difference.

But the business also faces geographic concentration around Khopoli and Lonavala. As the discussion highlighted, weak performance in that region can become a problem for the overall business.

What I'm tracking:

  • Footfall recovery in the Mumbai–Pune belt.

  • Revenue per visitor and spending trends.

  • New park additions and the performance of the seasonally stronger second half.

7. Anand Rathi Wealth: Measure the business by the right yardstick

Not every business should be judged by the same growth metric.

One memorable part of the interview compared Usain Bolt with marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge: comparing their speed without considering what they compete in misses the point.

The analogy is relevant to investing.

Anand Rathi Wealth's discussion included a reported 22% increase in quarterly revenue, alongside questions around its business model and the broader economic environment.

The useful question is not simply whether another company is growing faster. It is whether the business is building a durable model that can compound over time.

What I'm tracking:

  • Whether revenue growth sustains around the 20% level.

  • How the business model evolves as the company scales.

  • Whether growth translates into consistent earnings and durable business performance.

My takeaway: Before comparing two companies, understand what drives their growth and what makes that growth sustainable.
