Bengal Tea & Fabrics Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report
as of Aug 2026
- Nya Gogra Tea Estate acquisition - Board approved an MoU with Mcleod Russell India Ltd to buy the Nya Gogra Tea Estate in Assam for \~₹45 cr cash, with indicative completion by May 15, 2026. At roughly 16× current EBITDA, the estate adds tea production and turnover on day one, nearly doubling the company's asset base.
- '1950 Origins' packet tea brand - Launched March 6, 2025 in the domestic market, moving the company from bulk tea into branded packets. Branded tea carries higher per-kg realisations than commodity sales, a direct margin lever on the existing crop.
- Solar and energy-efficiency programme - A 525 KWP solar plant and 26 energy-efficient motors ran through FY25, with efficient dryers and heaters added in FY26, cutting power costs at the tea estate. With tea division PBIT margins at −2.57% in the latest year, lower energy costs drop straight to the bottom line.
- Food laboratory testing subsidiary - Board resolved Nov 12, 2024 to invest in a proposed subsidiary for food laboratory testing. This diversifies beyond tea into a fee-based services business, a new revenue stream independent of crop yields and auction prices.
