Comfort Fincap is a bridge lender - it gives loans to businesses and individuals who need money faster or more flexibly than a bank will offer, secured against assets they already own. It started life in 1982 as a textile manufacturer called Parasnath Textiles, became a registered finance company in 1998, and was acquired by the Comfort Group in 2010, which reshaped it into the asset-backed specialist it is today. The recurring approach is simple: lend against something tangible - shares, property, invoices - so the loan is always covered, and use technology to make the process quick and nearly paperless.
Business segments
A single lending engine with two faces - a wholesale, asset-backed core that has run for years, and a newly launched retail leg that finances smartphones for consumers in small-town India.
1. Secured wholesale lending: the asset-backed core
Every loan is backed by something the borrower already owns - shares, property, or unpaid invoices - so the company’s risk sits in the collateral, not in a credit score.
- Lends against shares without forcing a sale - through its Loan Against Securities product, customers pledge equity shares, mutual fund units or bonds to get short-term cash, paying interest only on the amount they actually draw and only for the days they use it. The company plans to build the industry’s largest approved stock and mutual fund lists, which would give customers more ways to pledge and borrow.
- Funds IPOs and ESOP buy-ins - it provides short-duration finance (typically 10-15 days) so corporate entities and wealthy individuals can subscribe to Initial Public Offerings by putting up a margin while the company funds the rest, and it lends to employees so they can exercise their stock options without selling other assets.
- Unlocks promoter wealth without dilution - promoter funding lets owners of well-managed companies raise capital by pledging their equity stake, keeping control intact while financing expansion, acquisitions or working capital needs.
- Turns unpaid bills into immediate cash - through bill discounting, the company buys bills of exchange before they mature and credits the discounted value to the customer, financing up to roughly 90% of the invoice value. Supply chain finance extends this idea to entire B2B ecosystems, giving suppliers early payment while buyers get longer to pay.
- Backs loans with bricks and mortar - its Loan Against Property product provides medium-to-long-term financing secured by residential, commercial or industrial real estate, with the loan amount tied to a significant percentage of the property’s market value.
2. Consumer durable loans: the retail experiment
A brand-new bet on financing smartphones for buyers in Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns, built on a partnership model rather than the company’s own branch network.
- Phones first, because that is half the market - smartphones make up 40-50% of all consumer durable financing in India, so the company launched its “Consumer Durable Loan” / “Digital Consumer Durable Loan | Mobile Financing” product in May 2026 targeting exactly that category, with loan approvals in as little as five minutes through a fully digital journey.
- Reaches customers through a partner, not its own shops - the entire retail operation runs through Jetfinx Services LLP, a corporate business correspondent that handles customer identification, loan documentation, post-sanction monitoring and collections at retail outlets, while Comfort Fincap provides the capital and carries the loan on its books.
- Goes where branded finance does not - the initial rollout covered Gujarat and Rajasthan, with a deliberate focus on Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets where access to branded consumer electronics financing is limited, aiming for a first-mover advantage in underserved semi-urban pockets.
Technology backbone
A lean, API-connected digital stack lets a team of just 11 people originate, underwrite, disburse and service loans without manual paperwork.
- Fifteen-minute disbursement is the target - the operating model is built to take a genuine customer from application to money-in-account within 15 minutes of approval, using real-time KYC verification, automated credit decisioning and digital mandate setup.
- No humans in the credit decision - the underwriting engine uses an automated multilevel rule engine with zero manual intervention, pulling data from over a dozen third-party services including AADHAAR, EQUIFAX, CDSL, NSDL and CAMS for verification and bureau checks.
- Collateral monitoring runs in real time - for the planned Loan Against Shares and Mutual Funds platform, the company is building a real-time loan-to-value monitoring engine with automated margin call triggers and top-up request workflows, integrated directly with depositories and mutual fund platforms.
Group structure and partners
The company sits inside the Comfort Group, lends heavily to related parties, and runs its retail arm through a single business correspondent it does not own.
- Related-party lending is material - as of March 2024, intra-group exposures totalled roughly Rs. 32.2 crore, or 42% of total exposure, with loans outstanding to entities including Comfort Commotrade, Comfort Securities and Flora Fountain Properties.
- One associate, no subsidiaries - the company holds a 46.81% stake in Lemonade Shares & Securities Private Limited, its only associate, and has no subsidiaries or joint ventures as of FY25.
- The retail partner is arm’s-length - Jetfinx Services LLP, which runs the consumer durable loan operation on the ground, has no shareholding link to Comfort Fincap and is not related to the promoter, promoter group or any group company.
- Promoters have been buying - Luharuka Sales & Services Private Limited, the entity that originally acquired the company in 2010, held just under 6% of the share capital as of September 2025 and increased its stake through open market purchases during that month.
