Diligent Industries is an Indian agro-processor that turns oilseeds and crude vegetable oils into edible oils and animal-feed ingredients - a business built on a single, integrated manufacturing site in Andhra Pradesh. Founded in 1995 by Mr. Vankineni Bhanuprakash, who brought over three decades of experience in edible oils and feed processing, the company has evolved from a solvent-extraction and trading operation into a refiner with its own plant, and is now pushing backward into oil-palm cultivation to secure its own raw materials. The recurring approach is vertical integration on a single campus: extract the oil, refine it, sell the main product, and turn the leftover cake and bran into animal feed - wringing multiple revenue streams from the same raw-material input.
Business segments
One integrated agro-processing engine with two natural product streams - edible oils and animal-feed ingredients - both flowing from the same solvent-extraction and refining operations, now extending backward into oil-palm cultivation.
1. Edible oils: the core processing and refining engine
The company buys or extracts crude vegetable oils, refines them in its own plant, and sells the finished oils in bulk to institutional buyers across India - a thin-margin, high-volume business where managing raw-material price swings is the real skill.
- Built the refinery with promoter money, not bank debt - the Rs. 150 million multiple-refinery vegetable-oil plant was funded entirely through unsecured loans from promoters and internal accruals, and sits on surplus land right next to the existing extraction plant, so logistics are minimal.
- Sells mostly to governments and feed makers, not supermarket shoppers - key customers include state civil-supplies departments, aqua farmers, and feed and food manufacturers like Heritage Foods and Growel Feeds; the company has its own local brands and plans to push into retail, but today it is overwhelmingly a B2B bulk supplier.
- Lives or dies by commodity-price management - with nearly 35% of India's edible oil consumption met by imports, domestic prices track global markets closely, and the company uses futures contracts on NCDEX and MCX to hedge, along with forward currency covers for any import exposure.
- Won the industry's own prize three years running - the Solvent Extractors Association of India awarded it "Highest Processor of Palm Kernel Oil Cake" for 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19, a signal of consistent throughput at the extraction stage.
2. Animal-feed ingredients: the by-product that became a second business
Every tonne of oilseed crushed leaves behind protein-rich cake and bran - and the company sells these straight into the cattle, poultry and aquaculture feed markets, with plans to upgrade from raw ingredient to finished pellet feed.
- Extraction creates feed as a built-in co-product - de-oiled rice bran, palm kernel cake, de-oiled cottonseed cake, maize and soya all emerge from the same solvent-extraction process that yields edible oil, so the feed business carries no separate raw-material cost.
- Sits in the middle of India's aquaculture belt - the plant is located in West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, a hub for aqua farming, giving the company a natural local market for feed ingredients among shrimp and fish farmers.
- Plans to move up the value chain into pellet feed - the company intends to install a 10-tonne-per-hour pellet-feed plant for cattle, aqua and poultry, using raw materials already available on its own premises, and to launch its own feed brands alongside its oil brands.
Group structure and partners
A family-run, standalone listed company with no subsidiaries - and a web of related-party trading relationships that handle a portion of its sales and purchases.
- No subsidiaries, no joint ventures - as of FY25 the company operates as a single entity with no holdings in any other operating company, having sold its entire stake in its only associate, Genesis IBRC India Limited, in March 2025.
- Promoters own over 60% and have lent money to the business - the Vankineni family held 61.33% of equity as of FY22, with none of those shares pledged, and the managing director and his wife have provided unsecured loans to fund expansion.
- Trades with entities the promoters also control - related-party transactions flow through E-Way Lipids Private Limited, Adithya Rice Mill and Adithya Commercials India Private Limited, covering both sales and purchases of goods.
