Taylormade Renewables Ltd is a clean-tech utility builder that turns industrial waste into water, recovered chemicals, and long-term service contracts. It started in 2010 with solar thermal systems and has since expanded into wastewater treatment, sugar and dairy processing, and water infrastructure - each move applying the same core idea: own the separation technology, then own the plant that runs it. The company’s recurring approach is to patent a process, prove it at pilot scale, and then deploy it under Build-Own-Operate (BOO) arrangements where it designs, builds, owns and runs the facility, collecting annuity-like fees over the asset’s life.
Business segments
Five engines at different stages - a wastewater-treatment core that is becoming an infrastructure annuity, a solar-thermal legacy, two process-technology bets for sugar and dairy, and a water-infrastructure EPC book - each built with the cash flows and know-how of the one before.
1. Wastewater treatment and Zero Liquid Discharge: the annuity engine under construction
Patented evaporation and membrane systems turn hazardous industrial effluent into fresh water and recovered solids, and the company is now building its own plants to sell the treatment as a service rather than just selling the equipment.
- The core technology is a self-cleaning evaporator - the TRL RAIN™ system uses a high-temperature evaporation-condensation cycle that handles complex wastewaters (saline, brackish, refinery effluents, chemical-laden streams) without pre-treatment or chemical dosing, achieving super-saturation above 1.3 specific gravity where conventional technologies stall below 1.2. That means it can keep concentrating waste until only solids remain, producing fresh water for reuse and enabling a true Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) plant.
- A family of systems covers the full separation chain - TRL RAIN Plus+™ combines membrane, evaporative and mechanical processes on a single skid to recover over 95% of water from complex effluents. TRL RAIN ULTRA™ recovers nearly 100% of solvents at low temperatures using waste heat, compared to a maximum of 85% in conventional systems, and a patent has been granted for it. TRL EC ULTRA uses electrocoagulation to remove oils, solids and heavy metals from greywater and industrial streams at what the company calls one of the most competitive treatment costs in the world.
- Regulation and resource recovery create demand pull - clients across chemicals, pharmaceuticals, refineries, distilleries, dairies and textiles face tightening norms from India’s Central and State Pollution Control Boards, alongside their own Net Zero targets. TRL has a framework agreement with an internationally accredited aggregator to obtain and transact Carbon Credits and Water Credits for its ZLD installations, making it the leading company in India to get water credits for water infrastructure projects.
- A deep research partnership de-risks the technology pipeline - TRL is a Technology Deployment Partner with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), with nine advanced water treatment systems under co-development or deployment spanning hazardous wastewater purification, drinking-water conversion and membrane-polished reuse. Completed and ongoing installations include plants for ONGC, Asian Paints, Deepak Phenolics and Neelikon Food Dye, ranging from 10 KLD pilots to a 1,000 KLD plant at Kunjir Bioenergy.
2. Solar thermal energy: the legacy that started it all
Parabolic dish concentrators deliver industrial-grade heat up to 400°C for refineries, canteens and boiler pre-heating - a niche that built the company’s relationship with Indian Oil and still feeds the project pipeline.
- A 92-square-metre dish that replaces furnace fuel with sunlight - the TRL 92 Sqm Parabolic Dish generates up to 50 kWh of thermal energy at temperatures reaching 400°C, with dual-axis tracking, and is designed for large-scale industrial process heat in textiles, pharmaceuticals, refineries and food processing. The same platform also supports solar steam generation for Enhanced Oil Recovery and thermal energy for hydrogen production.
- Indian Oil is both R&D partner and anchor customer - TRL is an Industrial Partner with IOCL for Net Zero and energy-efficiency projects, where IOCL provides requirements and proposed designs that TRL implements. A pilot of five 92 sqm dishes was integrated with an existing boiler at IOCL’s Lube Oil Blending Plant in Asaoti for preheating boiler feed water to 80-90°C. TRL has also deployed a steam cooking plant at IOCL’s Baroda Refinery that ran efficiently for six months, and IOCL is exploring expanding the technology across its refinery network.
- Institutional cooking is a second, smaller use case - TRL acquired an order for steam cooking systems at Satara Central Jail in Maharashtra, and has deployed dual-axis dishes at the Satara Jail canteen and Indian Oil’s R&D centre. The modular design adapts to canteens, mid-day meal programmes and refinery-linked zones.
3. Sugar manufacturing technology: a chemical-free process waiting to scale
A patented, modular process eliminates lime, sulphur and phosphates from sugar-making, cuts water and energy use by up to 80%, and lifts sugar recovery by roughly 10% - now registered with the national cooperative federation and validated at industrial scale.
- Membranes and evaporation replace the chemical house - the process uses TRL ZEO-MEMBRANE®, TRL RAIN® and TRL RAIN ULTRA® to clarify and concentrate cane juice without the conventional sulphitation and liming steps, producing a premium transparent sugar while enabling full ZLD. Because it removes microorganisms and phenolic compounds early, it improves juice stability and reduces downstream processing load.
- The economics are built on higher yield and lower inputs - the system increases sugar recovery by approximately 10% (or 7-8% output yield improvement versus conventional technology), reduces water and energy consumption by up to 80%, and can run on waste heat or biomass because it operates at low temperature. The payback period is shorter than setting up a conventional sugar mill, and the closed-loop design produces no air pollution.
- Registration opens a distribution channel to over 200 cooperative plants - in June 2025, TRL received official registration from the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories Ltd. (NFCSF), valid for three years, positioning it to offer the system to more than 200 cooperative sugar and distillery plants across India through BOO models, turnkey EPC and tech-licensing partnerships. Industrial-scale trials were successfully completed in November 2025 with one of India’s largest sugar manufacturers, demonstrating superior yield and significant water and energy savings.
4. Dairy and food processing technology: membrane know-how applied to protein and fat
The same separation membranes that clean wastewater are repurposed to concentrate milk proteins and recover ethanol, with a patented paneer-making system that boosts yield by over 20%.
- Paneer from skimmed milk, with higher yield - TRL Paneer Plus™ uses proprietary Zeo-Membrane technology to produce paneer from skimmed milk, enhancing yield by 20% or more and enabling lactose-free production in a modular, energy-efficient unit. A patent application has been filed for the technology.
- Ethanol and spent-wash recovery extend the dairy logic to distilleries - the company has introduced ethanol recovery technology that achieves high purity, alongside spent-wash concentration technology, applying its concentration expertise to the by-products of fermentation. The amended objects of the company now explicitly cover separation, purification and recovery of proteins, lactose and enzymes from dairy and food process streams.
5. EPC and water infrastructure: the lump-sum project book
Turnkey contracts to build stormwater drains, pipelines, water tanks and a 24 MLD sewage treatment plant in Andhra Pradesh provide a lumpy but capital-light revenue stream alongside the annuity businesses.
- A ₹230-crore water infrastructure package in one state - TRL is executing water infrastructure projects in Andhra Pradesh encompassing stormwater drains (major and minor), underground pipelines, water distribution systems, overhead water tanks and a 24 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant. The company has already delivered a full pipeline and reservoir in the state.
- EPC also serves industrial clients directly - beyond the Andhra Pradesh programme, TRL offers turnkey engineering, procurement and construction as well as tech-licensing partnerships to industrial customers, and its order book has surpassed ₹230 crores including contracts from Deepak Phenolics and Asian Paints. The company’s amended objects permit it to act as advisor, consultant, turnkey contractor, O&M provider and system integrator across energy, water, wastewater, agro-processing and infrastructure sectors.
Group structure and partners
A publicly listed parent with one operating subsidiary, a US-GCC channel partner, and deep institutional links to BARC and Indian Oil - the structure is deliberately simple, with fabrication and plant operations consolidated under the subsidiary.
- Taylormade Renewables Limited (TRL) is the listed parent, headquartered in Ahmedabad and migrated from the BSE SME platform to the BSE Main Board in October 2024. Promoters held 60.21% of equity as of March 2022, and key managerial personnel include Chairman and Managing Director Dharmendra Sharad Gor and CEO Harsh Gor.
- Taylormade Enviro Private Limited (TEPL) is the 51% subsidiary, acquired in March 2025 for a cash consideration of Rs. 12,39,300. TEPL operates the Tarapur BOO plant, which has received the Consent to Operate from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board, and brought fabrication, modular manufacturing and integration capabilities under TRL’s control.
- Optimor Ventures LLC is the exclusive channel partner for the USA, Canada and GCC nations under a two-year non-equity MoU signed in May 2025, responsible for market development and business acquisition for TRL’s ZLD, solvent recovery and clean sugar technologies, while TRL retains full IP ownership and handles project delivery.
- BARC and IOCL are the two anchor institutional partners - TRL is a Technology Deployment Partner with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre with nine systems under co-development, and an Industrial Partner with Indian Oil Corporation for Net Zero and energy-efficiency projects. A framework agreement with an internationally accredited aggregator enables carbon-credit and water-credit transactions from TRL’s ZLD installations.
