Ajanta Pharma Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Aug 2026

  1. Semaglutide in-licensing - Ajanta signed a 23-Dec-2025 agreement with Biocon for exclusive marketing of Semaglutide in 23 countries and semi-exclusive in 3 across Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia, with patent expiry in most markets in March 2026 and launches expected late 2026 or early 2027. This puts Ajanta's existing 2,000+ MR cardio-diabetes field force into the fastest-growing therapy in pharma, in markets where it already sells.
  2. US generics ANDA pipeline - FY27 filings target is 5-7 ANDAs, with most launches expected in Q4 FY27 subject to FDA approvals, after two Q1 launches that are yet to contribute meaningfully. The US business grew 57% in Q1 on existing products alone, so each approval adds to a base where most products already hold 20%+ market share.
  3. India field force expansion - Ajanta added \~300 MRs in FY26 to reach \~3,750, launched 26 products including 5 first-to-market, and grew India sales 13% vs IPM's 10%, with FY27 guidance of "mid-teens". The added reps and new therapies - Gynaecology and Nephrology, a combined \~₹16,000 cr. market - are still ramping, with Gynaecology expected to "contribute meaningfully" to future growth.
  4. Africa branded field force payoff - Q1 Africa sales grew 30% to ₹295 cr. with full-year guidance of "high double digit," driven by the field force ramp-up over the last two-three years now becoming productive plus new launches. The 250+ MRs added in Asia and Africa in FY26 extend a doubling of the emerging-market sales force three years ago that is still paying out.
  5. Pitampur expansion - \~₹300 cr. of the ₹400 cr. FY27 capex is for emerging-markets capacity at Pitampur, on top of the liquid dosages facility added there in FY25. This removes the capacity bottleneck just as Africa and Asia branded sales are growing at high-teens to 30%, and capex is set to fall after FY27.
  6. Asia branded recovery - Q1 Asia sales fell 16% to ₹225 cr. on Middle East supply chain disruptions, but management expects Q2-Q4 to be "much better" with full-year growth of "mid-teens to high-teens" as Q1 sales push into Q2. The recovery alone restores roughly ₹80 cr. of quarterly revenue, and 15 new chronic-therapy launches in FY26 add a second growth leg.
  7. Africa institutional antimalarials - Q1 sales grew 75% to ₹49 cr. with full-year guidance of "high double digit," after FY26 grew 9% on improved order flows from procurement agencies in H2. This is a small base - \~4% of revenue - but procurement-agency orders are lumpy and can scale quickly.
  8. New geographies entry - Management lists entering new geographies in Asia, the Middle East and Latin America as a medium-term growth engine playing out in three to five years, alongside 22 new launches in H1 FY25 and 6 in Q1 FY27. These are early-stage, but they extend the same playbook - small-country entry, field force build, share gain - that has driven Africa's 28% FY25 growth.
