Andhra Sugars Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Jul 2026

  1. Sugar loss elimination - Permanent closure of the Tanuku sugar and co-gen units took effect 1 April 2025, and crushing at Taduvai and Bhimadole is suspended for both the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons. Taduvai alone posted a loss before tax of ₹12.7 crore in FY26 (11% of total profit), so removing these drags directly lifts consolidated earnings without requiring any revenue growth elsewhere.
  2. Sulphuric Acid 500 TPD ramp-up - The new 500 TPD plant at Saggonda started commercial production on 26 April 2024, taking total capacity to 800 TPD at a capital cost of ₹120 crore funded internally. Sulphuric Acid already contributes 12.65% of turnover, and selling-price gains were cited as a driver of revenue increases in both the September and December 2025 quarters.
  3. Caustic Soda pricing tailwind - The 600 TPD membrane-cell caustic soda facility at Saggonda, expanded in March 2023, supplies the company's largest revenue line at 44.7% of turnover. Management flagged rising caustic soda selling prices as a key reason for turnover growth in the two most recent reported quarters, even as the FY25 annual report noted a severe fall in domestic caustic soda market prices during the year.
  4. US Aspirin business restart - The Tanuku aspirin facility passed a US FDA inspection in September 2024 with a "no action indicated" classification, and management expects to restart supply to HALEON by end-2025 alongside approvals from new US customers whose combined demand is roughly 900 MT per annum. Aspirin is a small share of turnover today (3.08%), but regulatory clearances open a higher-margin export channel that has been dormant.
  5. Solar power cost reduction - A 12 MW solar plant at Saggonda is approved with a ₹42 crore outlay and an FY26 completion target. Displacing grid power at the chemical complex lowers the energy cost base of the two largest revenue segments - Caustic Soda and Sulphuric Acid - with no incremental raw-material spend.
  6. Sodium Sulphate recovery - A 6 TPD Sodium Sulphate Recovery Plant at Saggonda is approved at a ₹12 crore capital outlay, targeted for FY26 completion. Recovering a saleable by-product from the chemical process stream adds a small but capital-light revenue line while reducing waste-handling costs.
  7. Wind asset rationalisation - The 2.025 MW wind mills at Ramagiri were permanently closed from 1 October 2025 after contributing only ₹30.5 lakh in profit before tax in FY25 (0.73% of total profit). The closure frees minor management attention and maintenance spend with negligible earnings impact, keeping focus on the chemical complex.
