Aristo Bio-Tech & Lifescience Ltd is a dedicated Indian crop protection company that makes the chemicals farmers use to stop insects, weeds and fungus from destroying their harvest - a problem that still claims roughly a third of India’s annual crop yield. Founded in 2005 as a private company in Maharashtra and now listed on the NSE Emerge platform, it has spent two decades building a single, focused factory in Gujarat that does two things under one roof: it formulates its own branded pesticides and it runs the same production lines for some of the world’s largest agrochemical companies on a contract basis. The recurring approach is simple - own one certified manufacturing site, register as many product approvals as possible with the regulator, and sell the output both across India and to export markets, so that the same plant and the same quality-control lab serve every customer.
Business segments
A single engine - a pesticide formulation and contract manufacturing plant in Gujarat - that reaches farmers through its own branded products and serves multinationals through job-work agreements, all from the same factory floor.
1. Agrochemical formulation and manufacturing: the factory that works for everyone
One ISO-certified plant in Vadodara makes insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and plant growth regulators, then sells them under the company’s own registrations or under a customer’s label - same machines, same quality lab, two revenue streams.
- Own-brand sales across 20 states - the company holds 257 product registrations from India’s Central Insecticides Board, up from 182 two years earlier, which gives it the legal right to manufacture and sell those formulations under its own name to a network of dealers, distributors and retailers spanning every major agricultural state from Punjab to Tamil Nadu.
- Contract manufacturing for industry names - the same production lines also run batches for Sinochem, Syngenta, National Fertilizers, Rotam and Albaugh LLC, among others, meaning the company earns a manufacturing fee without having to build a separate brand or distribution channel for those volumes.
- One facility, every step in-house - the company’s plant houses formulation, packaging, and a quality-control lab equipped with HPLC, UV and GC testing instruments, so raw materials, finished goods and even packaging materials like HDPE bottles and laminated pouches are tested on site against FAO and BIS standards before release.
- Exports to 15 countries via a bill-to-ship-to model - goods move directly from the supplier’s country to the buyer’s country without entering India, which keeps the transaction outside Indian GST and lets the company serve markets from Australia and Germany to Kenya and Vietnam without adding domestic logistics cost.
Group structure and partners
A promoter-led company with no subsidiaries and no foreign collaborations - the business runs through one listed entity, three associate firms, and a six-member board.
- Standalone entity - the company has no subsidiary, associate or joint venture company, so all manufacturing, sales and regulatory licences sit inside the listed entity itself.
- Three associate firms - Orchid Agro System, Kinlak Biotech and Indus Findem LLP are related parties; in FY24 the company sold roughly Rs. 5.3 crore of product to the first two and bought about Rs. 2.4 crore from Orchid Agro System, making them both customers and a supplier.
- Promoter leadership - Chairman and Managing Director Narendra Singh Barhat and Executive Director Kusum Barhat have run the business since incorporation in 2005, with Mrs. Barhat overseeing management and human resources across the company’s 66 employees.
- NSE Emerge listing - the company’s shares trade on the NSE’s SME platform, which exempts it from the full corporate governance regulations that apply to main-board companies.
