Asahi Songwon Colors Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report
as of Jul 2026
- Group revenue scale-up to ₹1,000 crores - Management targets ₹1,000 crores consolidated revenue within the next few years, with existing capacity alone capable of delivering \~₹750 crores over the next two years. At peak utilisation, consolidated EBITDA can reach \~₹100 crores - roughly double the current run-rate - without requiring major new capex.
- Blue Pigment margin recovery to peak EBITDA - Realisations have risen \~20% and Q4 FY26 gross margins recovered to \~34%, approaching the historical steady-state of 35-38%. Management targets the standalone Blue business reaching ₹50-55 crores absolute EBITDA in FY27, which alone would exceed the group's current total EBITDA.
- API Chattral plant utilisation ramp-up - Finished API product utilisation at Chattral is only \~30%, while intermediate utilisation is at \~70%. Without any additional capex, the combined API facilities can achieve ₹250-280 crores turnover at 15-16% EBITDA margins over 2-3 years, more than doubling current API revenue.
- AZO Pigment capacity expansion at near-zero infrastructure cost - Utilisation has climbed from 54% in FY24 to 76% in 9MFY26, and once it reaches 85%, a small ₹10-15 crore capex (plant and machinery only) will lift capacity by \~1.5x because civil and infrastructure are already built out to 2,400 MTPA. This removes the main bottleneck to scaling a business that turned EBITDA-positive in FY26.
- Debt reduction freeing up cash flow - Total debt has fallen from a peak of ₹220 crores to ₹160 crores by March 2025, with gearing improving to 0.61x by December 2025 and Q4 FY26 interest costs down 14% YoY. Annual debt repayment is only ₹12-13 crore against cash accruals of ₹32-58 crore, so the declining interest burden directly drops to the bottom line.
- AZO export entry into the US market - US tariffs on Chinese AZO imports and anti-dumping duties of 20-30% have opened a supply gap, and management has secured approvals from large global MNC customers with trial orders already shipped. Moving the AZO business from 10% exports toward 20-25% lifts realisations and diversifies a segment that was historically almost entirely domestic.
- Pregabalin price reversal - Pregabalin, which contributes 60-70% of API revenue, saw its three-year price erosion cycle reverse in Q4 FY26 with prices rising \~15% from the bottom. Since the backward-integrated intermediate chain is already running at good utilisation, price recovery flows through at high incremental margin.
- CEP Certification unlocking API export markets - Management is confident of achieving CEP Certification by end of FY27, a regulatory milestone that enables direct sales into regulated export markets. This supports both volume growth and a shift toward more profitable customer segments for the API business.
