Astra Microwave Products Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Aug 2026

  1. Uttam AESA radar order - HAL placed Astra's largest-ever order in July 2026: 122 AAAUs and 121 interface frames for ₹2,205 crore (₹1,870 crore ex-GST), with Phase 1 of 12 units due by September 2027 and \~25+ per year after. This lifts total order book to a record ₹4,300 crore and anchors management's target of 6-7x last year's turnover over five years.
  2. Su-30 Virupaksha and Angad programs - Astra is developing the AAAU for the Virupaksha radar (qualification expected FY28, production orders in 2-3 years) and is one of two DCPPs for the Angad EW pod jammer, with development completing in about a year. Management projects at least ₹3,000 crore of order intake from these two programs plus Su-30, against FY26 revenue of ₹1,157 crore.
  3. QRSAM production ramp - FOPM orders are being received in small quantities, with the main contract expected after BEL's order (expected by June 2026) and Astra expecting its own orders within 3-4 months of that. Management projects ₹700-800 crore from the first 3 regiments, partly before year-end, with full-blown production starting FY28.
  4. ARC JV scale-up - ARC's order book stands at ₹836 crore with FY27 planned sales of ₹360 crore, and management expects at least 50% growth in both order booking and sales, crossing ₹600 crore. At 18-20% EBITDA margin, that implies \~₹20 crore+ share of profit for Astra for FY27, versus \~₹8 crore in FY26.
  5. Tejas Mk1A EW suite qualification - The pod jammer and AATRU subsystem are qualified for the LCA Mk1A platform, with production orders expected post-qualification and \~₹500-600 crore added to order book projections. Uttam radar production orders for Tejas are expected to contribute to FY28 turnover.
  6. Space demerger and Astra SAT-1 - The board approved demerging the Space, Meteorology and Hydrology business (FY26 turnover \~₹157 crore, 13.6% of total) into Astra Space Technologies, with listing targeted by Q1 FY28 and first-year guidance of ₹300+ crore revenue at 18-20% PBT margin. The new entity plans to launch its own satellite, Astra SAT-1, within six months of listing, opening a data monetization business.
  7. Doppler weather radar and Mission Mausam - Astra received a ₹171.38 crore IMD order for six S-band polarimetric DWRs in December 2025, with orders on hand executable for the next two financial years and Mission Mausam expected to bring more tenders. Production visibility extends 4-5 years, with new products like Avalanche Radar ready in 1-2 years.
  8. MMIC chip sales - Astra secured a \~₹45 crore order from Bharat Electronics for MMIC chipsets in Q1 FY27, and is promoting its GaN/GaAs products (up to 40 GHz) to domestic and international players. Leads from the US and Europe could yield sizable orders in \~2 years, with chip sales excluded from order intake projections - pure upside.
  9. AMCA AAAU contract - Astra emerged as L1 bidder for the AMCA program's AAAU, with the contract expected within about a month as of August 2026 and BEL as L2. This follows AAAU orders for LCA Mark 2 and Su-30 received in Q4 FY25, extending the radar franchise across multiple fighter platforms.
