- Volume guidance: Management attributed Q2’s lower volume growth to a higher base from last year, not a change in demand, and said Q3 and Q4 order books support its 15% full-year volume growth guidance. It remains committed to 15% growth in both top line and bottom line.
- EBITDA per kg: The move from about 140 at the end of last year to around 130-135 reflects the prior-year increase in freeze-dried coffee capacity already being in the comparison base, alongside normal quarterly mix changes. Management said CCL’s scale, capabilities and efficiencies give it a slight margin edge over most competitors.
- Freight and costs: Most contracts are FOB, so buyers bear freight; some existing CIF contracts expose CCL to higher freight costs in the short term, while new contracts pass those costs to customers. Management also linked higher other expenses to some FOB shipments converting to CIF, 10 to 15% volume growth and domestic brand-building.
- Capacity and funding: Robust freeze-dried coffee demand could bring capacity expansion forward, with resource-allocation decisions potentially coming by the end of next year; management said there is no definitive plan yet. Without expansion, it expects debt to decline by ₹300-400 crores a year from cash flows.
- Capex returns: Management said 10,000 tonnes of spray-dried capacity requires ₹500-550-odd crores, while around 6,000 tonnes of freeze-dried capacity costs a similar amount. New capacity typically reaches 25 to 30% utilization in year one and 45-50% in year two; management linked the recent ROCE decline to the expansion cycle, higher coffee prices and working-capital needs.
