Cipla Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Aug 2026

  1. US respiratory launch wave - Cipla launched gVentolin in Q1 FY27, the first AB-rated generic with CGT and six months of exclusivity, and received USFDA approval for generic Advair Diskus on 27 July 2026, with launch expected in Q2 FY27. These two products alone address a combined US market of roughly $2.4 billion, and management expects the four FY27 respiratory and peptide launches to drive the US business toward a $1 billion exit run rate.
  2. Yurpeak obesity entry - Cipla launched Yurpeak, its second brand of tirzepatide, in India on 10 December 2025 under a marketing and distribution agreement with Eli Lilly, with all-India rights and a dedicated field force. The molecule was already clocking ₹130 crores a month, and Yurpeak reached number 2 in the anti-obesity category within months, contributing roughly ₹80 crores of the 15.4% India Rx growth in Q1 FY27.
  3. US peptide pipeline - Generic Victoza launched in Q3 FY26 and is doing well, with three more peptide assets expected to launch in FY27, including one with a very good chance of being first and potentially only generic. A first-to-market peptide could capture 40-50% or higher market share, and these launches come from a pipeline of 8 filed assets with select launches projected between FY27-28.
  4. India chronic portfolio deepening - One India delivered its highest-ever quarterly revenue of ₹3,452 crores in Q1 FY27, up 12% YoY, with branded prescription growth of 15.4% - 183 bps above the IPM - driven by respiratory at 15%, anti-diabetes at 43%, and cardiac at 20%. Chronic mix strengthened to 60.4%, and Cipla added 2 new brands to the ₹100+ crore club, taking the total to 33.
  5. Galvus perpetual license - Cipla paid ₹1,100 crores for perpetual rights to manufacture Galvus and its combinations, converting an in-licensing deal into in-house manufacturing with full supply chain margins. This moves a top diabetes brand from a licensed model to owned manufacturing, capturing the margin that previously went to the licensor.
  6. Pfizer brand in-licensing - Cipla signed an exclusive 5-year Supply and Marketing Agreement with Pfizer on 19 December 2025 for four established brands - Corex, Dolonex, Neksium and Dalacin C - with no upfront consideration. These brands plug into Cipla's existing India distribution network of 12,000 field force, adding scale without incremental fixed cost.
  7. Biosimilar JV with Kemwell - Cipla incorporated Aspergen Limited with Kemwell Biopharma on 5 May 2026, a 60:40 JV to develop, manufacture and commercialise biologics globally, using Kemwell's USFDA-certified Bangalore facility with 5,000 L bioreactor capacity. This gives Cipla an execution-ready biologics platform targeting a nearly $200 billion biosimilar opportunity, with an initial pipeline of respiratory and oncology assets.
  8. Manufacturing capacity expansion - Cipla approved over ₹4,000 crores of capital investments over the past two years, including a commissioned respiratory API facility at Kurkumbh (10 tonnes), an MDI facility at Fall River, and a DPI facility at Long Island supporting the Advair launch. These additions remove capacity bottlenecks across respiratory, oncology and oral solids, with capex expected to reduce after another year, freeing cash flow.
