Dish TV India Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report
as of Jul 2026
- Watcho OTT paid subscriptions - Watcho crossed 1.4 crore paid subscriptions as of September 2025, up from 1.1 crore in June 2025 and 0.76 crore in December 2024. Scaling Watcho is a stated strategic priority with hybrid monetisation blending subscription, advertising and platform revenue, making it the most direct path to offset the declining DTH top line.
- ShopZop B2B e-commerce launch - Dish TV launched ShopZop, a B2B e-commerce platform targeting Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, leveraging its existing network of over 2,000 distributors and 175,000 retailers without inventory risk. The wholly owned subsidiary Dish Bharat Ventures was incorporated in October 2024 to operate the platform, creating a new revenue stream outside the core DTH business.
- VZY Smart TV entry - Dish TV entered the Smart TV market with VZY Smart TVs that merge DTH services and OTT content in one device. Management's long-term focus includes expanding VZY and connected-device presence to strengthen hybrid viewing capabilities, which can drive hardware revenue and lock in subscribers.
- Retention-led subscriber model - The company shifted from high-subsidy subscriber acquisition to recharge-based incentives under plans like 'Malamal' and 'Jackpot', rewarding repeat recharges with cashback. This lowers recurring set-top-box capital expenditure and improves cash flow available for new revenue streams like ShopZop and FLIQS.
- FLIQS creator platform - FLIQS, a creator-centric content segment within Watcho, was launched at WAVES 2025, enabling creators to retain full intellectual property rights while planning to add micro-drama, gaming, podcasts and live events. It expands Watcho's content library at low cost by sourcing from independent creators rather than licensing from studios.
- Connected-device expansion with ₹999 set-top box - A strategic priority is expanding the connected footprint via a no-subsidy ₹999 set-top box, alongside devices like Dish SMRT Hub and D2H Stream running Android TV with Google Assistant and Chromecast. Removing the upfront subsidy burden improves unit economics on every new connection.
- Fundraising capacity of up to ₹1,000 crore - The Board granted in-principle approval in July 2024 to raise up to ₹1,000 crore through equity, convertible bonds, QIP or other securities, but the resolution was not approved by shareholders. Access to capital at this scale would fund the working-capital needs of the e-commerce and device businesses without straining the declining DTH cash flows.
