### **Overview**
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) is a Miniratna Category-I Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Headquartered in Kolkata, GRSE is one of India’s leading warship builders and a key player in the country’s indigenous defense manufacturing ecosystem. With over six decades of experience, GRSE has delivered 109 warships to the Indian Navy and Coast Guard and built more than 790 vessels in total, including commercial ships and defense platforms for export. GRSE is undergoing a major strategic transformation, moving beyond traditional warship building to become a diversified **comprehensive maritime solutions provider**. Key pillars of its strategy include:
1. **Indigenous Technological Advancement**
- Collaborated with **Centum Electronics** (Oct 2025) to co-develop **Advanced Naval Navigation Systems**, focusing on indigenous R&D, modular manufacturing, and onboard integration.
- Active partnerships with global OEMs such as **MTU (Rolls-Royce), Kongsberg (Norway), Elbit Systems (Israel), and IIT Kharagpur** to indigenize critical systems: diesel engines, waterjets, naval guns, and AI-driven design tools.
2. **Green Energy & Sustainable Shipbuilding**
- Delivered India’s **largest all-electric 150-passenger ferry 'Dheu'** (Jan 2025) and **'Swadheen'**, the first Indian fully autonomous USV (Aug 2025).
