Harrisons Malayalam Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report
as of Jul 2026
- Rubber mature-area recovery from FY27 - Rubber mature area fell from 74% in FY21 to 55.7% in H1FY26 due to replanting, but management expects it to improve from FY27 as replanted trees reach tapping age. Rubber is the largest segment at 57% of operating income, so even a partial recovery in harvestable acreage directly lifts group revenue and profit.
- Tea price-led loss reduction - Tea realisations rose 20% to ₹169/kg in FY25 and sustained at ₹170/kg in H1FY26, narrowing the segment loss from ₹10.8 cr in FY25 to ₹2.2 cr in H1FY26. Tea still contributed 43% of operating income in FY25, so moving this segment toward breakeven removes the largest drag on consolidated earnings.
- Tourism bungalow expansion - One experiential bungalow is operational at Lockhart, four more are under development in Suryanelli and Nilgiris, and ₹10 cr of the FY25 term loan is allocated to this build-out. The Others segment result jumped from ₹36 lakh in H1FY25 to ₹10.4 cr in H1FY26, showing the high-margin contribution these low-capex assets can deliver once opened.
- Replantation term-loan deployment - A ₹35 cr term loan was sanctioned in FY25, with ₹25 cr earmarked for replantation and ₹28.6 cr already drawn. This dedicated funding accelerates the estate renewal that underpins the rubber mature-area recovery, without straining working capital.
- Orthodox and green tea export demand - Management expects orthodox tea exports to sustain on demand from West Asia, Russia, and Europe, while the green tea segment is seen gradually expanding. Export-linked orthodox sales typically command a premium, supporting the price-led margin improvement already underway in tea.
- Credit rating upgrade to Stable outlook - CARE reaffirmed long-term facilities at BBB with outlook revised from Negative to Stable, and interest coverage improved to 1.8x in FY25 from 0.8x in FY24. A stable rating and rising coverage ratio lower refinancing risk and signal that the capital structure can support the growth capex already committed.
