- Leadership continuity: Jagdishan said HDFC Bank is driven by processes rather than individuals, with a deep bench of experienced leaders to support Anup Bagchi. He described Bagchi as having 34 years of financial-services experience.
- Incoming CEO priorities: Bagchi said he will engage with regulators, customers and stakeholders, gather input, and learn the bank’s balance sheet and P&L mechanics; he said he joins on the 27th.
- Margin trajectory: Jagdishan attributed the quarter’s greater margin pressure to the asset mix, including a higher non-retail composition, and the FCNR mobilization. He expects upward rate changes to transmit faster on the asset side because much of the balance sheet is linked to variable benchmarks, though asset-mix changes will take a few quarters.
- CASA and funding: Jagdishan said system-wide shifts in household behavior have reduced low-cost flows, while HDFC Bank was additionally affected by taking more time deposits and replacing borrowings maturing over the last 3 years. He said Bagchi may outline alternate funding sources to protect core retail liabilities.
- Unanswered assurance: Jagdishan said much of the post-merger balance-sheet transformation is behind the bank, with some work remaining. A follow-up asking whether governance and senior-exit issues were behind the bank and whether more top-level changes were expected was declined as outside the quarterly-call questions.
