- Production expansion targets: Over the next five years, Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) plans to triple copper ore production from approximately 4 million tons to 12.2 million tons and raise metal in concentrate output to over 90,000 tons across its Khetri, Malanjkhand, and Ghatshila operations.
- Domestic mine restarts: HCL has restarted the Ghatshila mines with JSW operating the Rakha mine under a revenue-sharing model, and is partnering with Coal India and Sikkim Mining Corporation to operationalize the high-grade Dikchu mine in Sikkim within 24 months of lease allocation.
- Overseas asset acquisition: To offset India's low share of global copper reserves (0.29%), HCL has shortlisted four to five blocks in Chile with state-owned Codelco and transaction advisor EY, alongside domestic exploration in Madhya Pradesh (Siddhi block) and Chhattisgarh (Hoda block).
- Financial turnaround: HCL has transitioned from a ₹600 crore loss and ₹1,700 crore debt position to become a debt-free company with ₹1,200 crore in profit, enabling it to fund future capital expenditures entirely through internal accruals.
- Critical mineral recovery: HCL has signed MOUs with UCIL to extract uranium from copper tailings and with EIL to study the commercial extraction of rare earth elements and molybdenum from waste deposits at Khetri and Malanjkhand.
