Huhtamaki India Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Aug 2026

  1. blueloop recyclable platform - Commercial deliveries of blueloop recyclable solutions expanded, with new high-barrier structures gaining traction in personal care; recyclable products are 27-30% of sales, but blueloop assets run at over 70% utilization making products that were previously outsourced. As customers shift to meet their 2030 sustainability pledges, this one-of-its-kind-in-India mono-material platform converts a cost centre into a higher-margin, higher-price product line.
  2. Solar captive power at Khopoli - The solar captive plant, backed by a 28% stake in AMPIN Energy SPV for ₹2.75 crore, comes online in Q3 CY26 and will supply almost 50% of Khopoli's power. Renewable power at nearly half the plant's consumption cuts energy costs from the second half of FY27, with the model assessed for expansion across three more sites.
  3. Export franchise expansion - Exports are \~30% of sales volume across 67 countries, including Central and South America where few Indian packaging makers operate; FY25 export earnings were ₹836.61 crore against ₹554.51 crore import outflow. Management calls exports a focus area with emerging global opportunity pockets, and the US-India trade deal, though small today, adds a potential upside channel.
  4. Capacity optimisation headroom - Productivity gains over the last 3-4 quarters leave enough capacity for at least another couple of years of volume growth with no constraint; management sees room for 15-20% more production on similar capacity. With FY25 capex at just ₹55.81 crore focused on efficiency, incremental volume drops to operating leverage without new capital spend.
  5. Tube laminates growth - Tube laminates, at a high-single-digit share of the portfolio, are identified as a growth area driven by the shift from rigid to flexible plastics and small FMCG players wanting nimble product changes. This structural substitution trend gives the company a demand tailwind in a segment it already serves profitably.
  6. PCR content commercialisation - Post-consumer recycled materials progressed from pilot to commercialisation, with mechanically recycled PCR established in home and personal care; Khopoli and Silvassa obtained ISCC PLUS certification enabling chemically recycled PCR use. This positions the company ahead of expected Indian regulation, converting a compliance risk into a sellable sustainability attribute.
  7. R&D innovation pipeline - The Khopoli R&D centre achieved NABL accreditation in 2025 and filed 4 patents for innovative products; R&D spend rose to ₹39.3 million in FY25 from ₹14.3 million. New paper-based products developed with Huhtamaki's global paper-coating experts are already getting good customer response from sustainability-conscious buyers.
