Interglobe Aviation Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Aug 2026

  1. A321 XLR long-haul expansion - India's first A321 XLR entered service on 7 January 2026, with 9 of 40 firm orders due in CY 2026 and deployment on Athens, Istanbul, and Bali. The XLR extends range to 7-8 hours, unlocking Europe and East Asia and underpinning the 40% international ASK target.
  2. International network expansion - International capacity reached \~33% of total ASKs in Q1 FY27, with 46 international destinations and a 40% ASK share target by 2030. International ASK grew 22.8% in FY26 versus single-digit domestic, and international demand is stronger than domestic.
  3. A350 widebody order - IndiGo doubled its A350 order from 30 to 60 firm aircraft in October 2025, with 40 purchase rights remaining. The widebodies serve long-haul routes beyond XLR range, giving IndiGo a second long-haul aircraft type as international capacity scales.
  4. Fleet expansion and order book - IndiGo's order book exceeds 900 aircraft, with deliveries of one plane per week for the next decade. The fleet was 432 aircraft at 30 Jun 2026, and management targets doubling to 600-plus aircraft by FY2030.
  5. Aircraft ownership expansion - GIFT City entity - IndiGo's Board approved up to USD 820 million investment in its GIFT City leasing subsidiary, which prepaid loans on 17 aircraft in FY26, leaving 36 unencumbered aircraft. Owned or finance-leased aircraft should rise from \~20% of the current fleet to 30-40% of the projected 600-aircraft fleet by 2030, cutting lease costs and dollar exposure.
  6. IndiGoStretch business class - Stretch operates on 8 domestic and 9 international routes, expanding to 65 aircraft total. Unit revenue on a Stretch-configured plane is better than without, and international Stretch routes show load factors better than domestic.
  7. BluChip loyalty programme - BluChip reached over 1.1 crore registered members, with three co-branded credit cards launched in Q2 FY26 and an Accor ALL partnership live in Q1 FY27. The programme drives direct bookings and ancillary revenue, with redemption on every flight up to last seat.
  8. MRO facility - Bengaluru - IndiGo broke ground on a 12-bay MRO in Bengaluru with \~₹1,000 cr capex over 3-4 years, expected operational in 2028. Currently 90-95% of MRO work is outsourced, largely internationally; in-house heavy maintenance cuts turnaround times and foreign MRO dependence.
  9. Engine order and MRO development - CFM LEAP - IndiGo signed an MoU with CFM for 1,000+ LEAP-1A engines, the largest single LEAP order ever, including CFM support for IndiGo's upcoming engine MRO facility. The order secures engines for 510 A320neo family aircraft and brings MRO capability in-house, reducing maintenance costs and turnaround times.
  10. Fuel charge implementation - IndiGo introduced a fuel charge on 14 March 2026 across domestic and international routes, with per-sector charges from ₹425 to ₹2,300. The domestic charge largely recovered increased fuel costs, while international was passed on partially.
