Kamdhenu Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Jul 2026

  1. Franchisee royalty escalator - FY26 royalty income rose 25% YoY to ₹175 crore on 10% volume growth and a 10% rise in per-tonne realisation to ₹435. Management targets a 10-15% annual royalty-rate increase alongside \~10% volume growth, which directly expands the asset-light, high-margin earnings stream that already funds the dividend.
  2. Franchisee volume doubling plan - FY24 franchisee volume is estimated to be around 37 lakh tonnes, and management targets doubling steel sales over the next 4-5 years, implying 16-17% annual growth. Every additional tonne lifts royalty income at a rising per-tonne rate with negligible incremental capital employed.
  3. Strategic equity in franchisee units - Kamdhenu has begun converting loans and subscribing to preferential issues to take minority stakes in large franchisee units such as Maa Kudargarhi Steels (₹1,751 crore turnover) and Maa Kudargarhi Power and Ispat (₹1,058 crore provisional FY25 turnover). These stakes give Kamdhenu a share of the franchisees’ profits on top of royalty income, reshaping the franchisee model without adding manufacturing risk.
  4. Paint business path to ₹1,000 crore - Kamdhenu Paints turned EBITDA-positive in FY24 at an 8% margin and management targets ₹1,000 crore turnover with \~15% EBITDA margin within 3-4 years. The ₹20 crore equity infusion into the paint business in March 2026 increased Kamdhenu's equity by 4%, and the paint cycle benefits from the same infrastructure tailwind that drives steel demand.
  5. Surplus cash and shareholder-return policy - The company held \~₹300 crore of surplus cash at end-FY26 and is framing a treasury policy to reward shareholders. A debt-free balance sheet and rising royalty cash flows give it room to raise payouts or buy back shares without straining operations.
  6. Brand premium widening - Kamdhenu commands an average brand premium of \~₹2,600 per tonne over local brands, reaching up to ₹6,000 in some states. A widening premium supports the planned annual royalty-rate increases and reinforces the franchisees’ incentive to stay within the network.
  7. South India market share push - The South accounts for only 15% of franchisee volumes and 13% of royalty income, versus 31-36% from the North and East. Management is targeting the region for expansion, and closing the regional gap would add volume without needing to build a new network from scratch.
