- Margin guidance: Karur Vysya Bank raised its NIM guidance to above 4%, calling it conservative, and said it had retained a NIM of 4.26. Management expects RoA of 2 and above over the next 2 quarters, while treating the next 3 to 6 months as crucial for margins.
- Insurance income: Third-party income is a minuscule portion of other income, and revised commission guidelines are expected to cause a dip. Management said increasing life insurance penetration from around 1.6% to more or less 3.9% or 4% could make up for the loss.
- Rate sensitivity: EBLR-linked loans are 57% of the book; about one-third, the cash-credit working-capital portion, is repriced the next day, with the rest repricing as term loans come due. The bank said rising rates could support costs through lower superannuation-benefit provisions, while its mainly SLR treasury book has limited trading exposure and an FVTPL book of around ₹300 crore.
- Gold loan controls: Management said gold loans are currently 26% of exposure and the bank recently set a 32% exposure limit, down from its prior internal restriction of around 35%. It is pursuing guarded, diversified growth and uses centralized daily LTV monitoring, triggering margin calls and moving to auction if unresolved in 15-20 days.
