Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Aug 2026

  1. Iron ore volume ramp - FY27 guidance is 26 MnT production versus 21.96 MnT in FY26, with Q1 FY27 output up 53% YoY and a monthly run rate above 0.2 crore tons. Sales should exceed 2.6 crore tons including opening stock, and at Q1's ₹2,230 EBITDA per ton, each incremental million tons adds roughly ₹220 crore of EBITDA.
  2. Pellet capacity doubling - The second 4 MTPA Konsari plant commissioned May 2026, taking own capacity to 8 MTPA, with both plants at 100% utilization within four months. FY27 guidance of 7.75-8 MnT production versus 3.03 MnT actual in FY26, at Q1 EBITDA of ₹5,803 per ton, more than doubles this segment's earnings.
  3. Thriveni MDO earnings step-up - Q1 FY27 revenue grew 63% YoY to ₹2,672 crore with EBITDA up 145% to ₹658 crore at 24.63% margins, and management guides FY27 EBITDA near ₹3,000 crore. The 79.82%-owned subsidiary already contributes the bulk of group EBITDA, and new Odisha mines plus the PB Northwest coal contract underpin continued growth.
  4. Steel entry - wire rod mill - The 1.2 MTPA Chandrapur steel plant is at an advanced construction stage, with commissioning guided for Q4 FY27 and FY27 production of 0.15-0.2 MnT. This converts roughly 0.14 crore tons of captive iron ore and pellets into higher-value finished steel, adding a new earnings leg from FY28.
  5. Copper production ramp in DRC - Surya Mines commissioned March 2026 and produced 2,754 tons in Q1 FY27, with FY27 guidance of 8-10 KT and a combined Surya plus Chemaf pathway to \~100,000 TPA over 3-5 years. Chemaf's 50,000 TPA Mutoshi plant is expected to start meaningful production by July 2027, with copper margins guided around 30-32%.
  6. Second slurry pipeline - The 195 km, 16 MTPA Hedri-to-Ghugus line via a Chandrapur stockyard is under development with survey and engineering complete, targeting freight savings of ₹800-1,000 per ton. On 1.6 crore tons of material, that is ₹1,000+ crore annually, and management expects total logistics and sustainability savings to surpass ₹2,000 crore per annum by March 2028.
  7. BHQ beneficiation plant - Phase 1 with 3 crore ton input capacity is targeted for commissioning by December 2027, with pilot plant yield confirmed at 38% and 85-90% of main equipment ordered. Beneficiated ore at 66-67% Fe versus current lower-grade sales carries a ₹700-800 per ton price upside and cuts royalty from \~₹1,200 to \~₹200 per ton.
  8. Tata Steel partnership - BRPL - Tata Steel acquired 50.01% of Brahmani River Pellets under a long-term conversion and offtake arrangement, with BRPL reporting \~₹48 crore EBITDA in Q1 FY27 and MDO operations at Tata Steel's Joda West manganese mines started June 2026. The take-or-pay contract with a captive consumer delivers steady cash flow, and the MoU opens potential MDO, slurry pipeline, and mining concession opportunities in Gadchiroli and the eastern belt.
