Pidilite Industries Ltd Business Overview - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Jul 2026

Pidilite Industries is the company behind some of India’s most ubiquitous household and workshop products - Fevicol, Fevikwik, M-Seal and Dr. Fixit - built over six decades from a single adhesive plant into a multi-engine consumer and industrial chemicals group. It was founded in 1959 and went public in 1993, but the defining move was the deliberate construction of two engines side by side: a Branded Consumer & Bazaar (C&B) division that puts adhesives, sealants and waterproofing into the hands of millions of households and tradespeople, and a Business-to-Business (B2B) division that supplies industrial resins and adhesives to factories. The recurring approach that explains everything else is what management calls “creating values by creating categories” - spotting unmet needs through deep field research, then building brands and distribution around them with sustained, long-term investment rather than chasing quick wins.

Business segments

Three engines at different stages - a consumer-adhesives cash cow, a construction-chemicals growth platform, and an industrial B2B workhorse - each built on the distribution muscle and brand trust of the one before.

1. Consumer & Bazaar Products: the retail engine that puts branded adhesives and sealants into millions of hands

Fevicol alone has been the carpenter’s preferred adhesive since 1965, and the division now sells over 810 products through more than 5,150 distributors reaching over 38,000 towns - a distribution network that turns small-ticket consumables into a recurring revenue machine.

2. Waterproofing & Construction Solutions: the growth platform riding India’s building boom

India’s tile-adhesive market is worth Rs 2,500-3,000 crores but only 18-20% of users have switched from cement - Pidilite is betting that Dr. Fixit, Roff and a suite of specialist products can convert the rest.

3. Business-to-Business: the industrial workhorse supplying factories across a dozen industries

This division makes industrial adhesives, synthetic resins, organic pigments and construction chemicals for large customers in packaging, footwear, automotive, textiles and paints - a quieter engine that runs on technology partnerships and direct relationships rather than retail branding.

Group structure and partners

Pidilite is the listed parent atop 15 domestic subsidiaries, 19 international subsidiaries, 1 international joint venture and 7 associates - a structure built through decades of acquisitions, joint ventures and market entries, then pruned by exiting the Americas entirely in 2024.
