- AI orchestration: Redington will retain distribution’s reach, logistics and credit while adding digital platforms and an orchestration layer to connect hardware, software, cloud and services. Hariharan said AI adoption exceeds 90+%, but practical return on investment remains below 30-40%.
- AI revenue streams: The company will continue reselling AI-enabled devices, hardware and tools, while building an AI Exchange for off-the-shelf agents and helping partners deploy AI. Hariharan expects better margins from agentic AI and professional services, but said Redington will not create bespoke software itself.
- Growth outlook: Data-center sales were about ₹1,000 crore in Q1, with an order backlog of multiple X and an opportunity backlog of 20-25x that amount. Software services, now about 18% of revenue versus 10% a couple of years ago, and technology solutions could grow 30-40% over the next 3-5 years; software and services growth is expected at 30% to 50% year-on-year for the next several years.
- Margin targets: Software services gross margins are 5.5-6%, compared with Redington’s average of 4% to 5%; professional services have margins upwards of 20% but are currently about $15 million. Hariharan said the company aims to reach the 2.3-2.5% range over 3-5 years as these businesses scale and investments begin to deliver leverage.
- Risks and funding: Redington is managing investment through internal accruals, but Hariharan said it may need to raise money if growth continues at 35%. He cited slower data-center growth or enterprises failing to realize expected AI returns as risks, while noting potential overcapacity and a shift toward edge computing also bear watching.
