- FCNRB and overseas fundraising: Strong FCNR(B) inflows supported by CRR, SLR, and PSL dispensations are helping banks replace high-cost bulk deposits, while lenders like PNB are expanding global borrowing through syndicated loans and a planned $500 million MTN issue.
- UPI transaction monetization: Bankers anticipate a 20–25 basis point charge on higher-value P2M transactions to be split across networks and banks, alongside proposals to mandate UPI wallets for transactions up to ₹100 to reduce infrastructure costs.
- Deposit and funding strategy: To counter slowing retail deposit growth driven by shifts into mutual funds, banks are focusing on lifecycle customer management, infrastructure bonds, and unlocking liquidity through securitizing ₹30 lakh crore of housing and ₹10 lakh crore of vehicle loan books.
- Credit growth and asset quality: Industry credit growth is expected to remain healthy at 16% to 18%, while asset quality concerns were dismissed due to multi-year low NPA and SMA levels across public and private banks.
