Shalby Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Aug 2026

  1. MedTech EBITDA turnaround - MedTech consolidated EBITDA turned positive for the fourth straight quarter at ₹0.17 cr in Q1 FY27, versus a ₹19.2 cr loss in FY25, with FY26 revenue crossing ₹135 cr, up 46%. Management targets ₹600-650 cr revenue with 15%+ EBITDA by 2030, which would add roughly ₹90-100 cr of EBITDA against the group's current ₹143 cr.
  2. Gurugram break-even and ramp - Shalby International achieved its first EBITDA break-even since acquisition in Q1 FY27, with 7% EBITDA margin and revenue up to ₹26.2 cr from ₹23.2 cr a year ago. Management expects occupancy to reach 30%+ from Q3-Q4 FY27 and PBT positive by Q4, with carry-forward losses meaning no tax for 2-3 years.
  3. In-house implant consumption - From January 2026, 70-80% of implants used in Shalby hospitals are the company's own, versus 15-20% until Q3 FY26. This vertical integration captures margin on the group's own surgical volume - the world's largest joint replacement centre - while MedTech's COGM has already fallen to nearly half of what it was 4.5 years ago.
  4. MedTech international approvals - Regulatory approvals received for Malaysia (Unicondylar), Vietnam (Hip), Nepal, Burma and Brunei, with dossiers submitted in South Korea, Vietnam and Iran, and active discussions in Ethiopia, Paraguay, Sri Lanka and Russia. Management expects international expansion to accelerate over the next 12-14 months as approvals convert, with the business already growing 40-60% per year.
  5. NABH accreditation unlocks payers - NABH accreditation granted 3 Mar 2026, valid to 2030, enabling tie-ups with Haryana government, CGHS and ECHS, plus TPA renewals and rate increases. Management had closed 2-3 TPAs before NABH and expects another 4-5 to onboard now, supporting the Gurugram occupancy ramp from 24% toward the 30%+ target.
  6. Robotics commercial rollout - The Curexo robotics partnership is scaling from pilot to commercial deployment across India, US, Indonesia and Malaysia, with 5 orthopedic robots installed and more being added for general surgery, onco and neurosurgery. Over 20% of Shalby's surgeries are now robotic, and robots generate rental income while boosting implant sales.
  7. MedTech inventory and cost reduction - Inventory holding period improved to 651 days in Q1 FY27 from 934 days in FY26, with management expecting a further 30% improvement and 100-200 bps gross margin gains per quarter. The "China+1" sourcing strategy targets 20-25% better inventory turns and 10% lower freight costs, directly lifting the segment's path from its FY26 audited loss of ₹34.7 cr.
  8. New market entries in India - Implant distribution is expanding from 11 states to add Assam, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, with seven new distributors onboarded in Q3 FY25. India is the largest OUS market at roughly 60% of the non-US split, and SMTL India revenue already grew 98% YoY in Q1 FY27 to ₹36 cr.
