Siddhika Coatings is India’s largest single-brand paint contracting company - a business built entirely around an exclusive, decade-plus partnership with Japanese coatings manufacturer SK Kaken (SKK). It started in 2010 as a pure applicator of SKK’s specialised architectural and industrial coatings, and has since expanded into a broader contracting group by adding a general engineering-services arm through a subsidiary. The recurring approach is simple: bring organised, compliant service to a fragmented industry where most competitors are small and informal, and do it on a pan-India scale that almost no other paint contractor can match.
Business segments
Two engines at different stages - a paint-contracting cash cow built on an exclusive Japanese brand partnership, and a newly launched general contracting arm that extends the same organised-service model into broader construction work.
1. Painting and Coating Solutions: the exclusive SKK brand engine
Siddhika is the authorised pan-India marketer and applicator for SK Kaken’s premium Japanese coatings - it imports the products, sells them, and applies them, capturing both product margin and service fees from repeat B2B clients.
- One brand, one partner, one decade - the company has been associated with SKK for over a decade and is one of the best-known suppliers of SKK products in India, importing through SKK Singapore. The product range covers organic and inorganic architectural textured pigments and technical-grade functional coatings - specialised finishes, not commodity paint.
- Sells the paint and does the painting - revenue comes from two streams: sale of goods (paint and allied products) and rendering of application services, with the company acting as the principal in both because it controls the goods before they reach the customer. That means it earns a margin on the product and a fee for the labour, rather than just one or the other.
- Pan-India reach that rivals lack - with a registered office in New Delhi and branch offices in Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, the company can serve clients who need a single contractor across multiple cities, which management says is rare in the industry. This geographic spread is a structural advantage when bidding for large, multi-site projects.
- Repeat clients are the backbone - the order book is dominated by clients who have been served well over the preceding three years, and management calls this repeat business the company’s major strength. Demand is tied to the construction and real-estate cycle, with growing appetite for quality exterior finishes and façade renovation as offices refill.
- Organised in an unorganised world - the Indian paint-contracting industry has historically belonged to unorganised players, but the company sees a shift toward compliance and professional service, and it positions itself as a pioneer ready to capture that transition. It backs this with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications and an applicator-recognition programme to retain skilled manpower.
2. Contracting and Engineering Services: the new construction arm
Launched through subsidiary SCL Contracts, this segment takes the group beyond paint into general construction, repair, refurbishment, demolition, and interior finishing - applying the same organised-contractor logic to a wider set of site work.
- A brand-new reportable segment - this line of business was presented as a separate segment for the first time in the period ending November 2025; before that, the group operated only the Painting and Coating Solutions segment. It marks a deliberate broadening from coatings specialist to multi-trade contractor.
- Delivered through a dedicated subsidiary - SCL Contracts Private Limited, in which the parent invested during FY23 and holds 99.99%, is the vehicle for all contracting and engineering services work. The parent supplies materials to it under a related-party arrangement capped at Rs. 5 crore per annum.
- Still small, built to grow - as of March 2024, SCL Contracts accounted for just 1.70% of consolidated net assets and 0.38% of consolidated profit, so this engine is in its earliest stages. The group is effectively using the cash flows and client relationships of the paint business to seed a broader contracting platform.
Group structure and partners
Siddhika Coatings sits at the centre of a tight group: two wholly owned Indian subsidiaries, a single make-or-break Japanese supplier relationship, and a promoter-held holding company.
- The parent is the powerhouse - Siddhika Coatings Ltd itself represented 90.80% of consolidated net assets and 88.42% of consolidated profit as of March 2024, so the listed entity is overwhelmingly the operating business.
- Two subsidiaries, two roles - AB Coatings Private Limited (100% owned) is a trading entity that buys from and sells to the parent and also pays it rent; it contributed 7.50% of consolidated net assets and 11.20% of consolidated profit. SCL Contracts Private Limited (99.99% owned) is the vehicle for the new Contracting and Engineering Services segment.
- SKK is the irreplaceable partner - the entire Painting and Coating Solutions business rests on the authorised-marketer and authorised-importer relationship with SK Kaken of Japan, conducted through SKK Singapore. There is no indication of a second brand or a fallback supplier.
- Promoters hold tight control - as of FY21, the promoter group held 83.65% of equity, with the holding company M/s Siddhika Business Applications Private Limited alone holding 64%. The company had no debt as of FY25 and a current ratio of 3.53, suggesting it is funded conservatively from equity and internal cash generation.
