Sundaram Clayton Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Jul 2026

  1. Padi land sale - debt reset - The sale of \~16 acres of surplus freehold land at Padi, Chennai to Canopy Living LLP completed on 26 March 2026, with the full ₹558.62 cr consideration received. Proceeds are earmarked primarily for debt reduction, which management states will meaningfully lower the ₹280 cr in debt obligations due across FY27 and FY28, directly strengthening the balance sheet and cutting interest costs.
  2. Thervoy Kandigai plant ramp-up - The new smart mega die-casting plant at Thervoy Kandigai commenced supplies from January 2025 and is now in full-fledged operations, built at a cost of ₹550-600 cr. Management expects the shift to this highly automated facility to lift standalone operating profitability to \~16-17% over the near to medium term, a sharp expansion from the 12-14% standalone OPM recorded between fiscal 2021-25.
  3. US subsidiary order book and breakeven - Sundaram Holding USA Inc. has secured confirmed orders corresponding to nearly 100% of its current annual installed capacity for the next three years. Management expects a sizeable ramp-up and breakeven at the operational level in H2 FY27, linked to these strong orders from leading US-based OEMs, which would remove a current drag on consolidated earnings.
  4. Hosur two-wheeler business exit - The slump sale of the Hosur plant's two-wheeler die-casting business to Sandhar Ascast completed in FY26 for ₹163 cr, with proceeds used to cut debt. The exit already contributed to an EBITDA margin jump from 12.6% in FY25 to 17.2% in FY26, and removes a lower-margin segment, permanently lifting the mix.
  5. US 4,400-ton die-casting machine - A 4,400-ton die-casting machine was commissioned at the US operations, expanding capability to serve the North American market with new product lines. This adds capacity to capture demand beyond the existing order book at a facility that is already booked to full capacity for three years.
