Sun TV Network Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report
as of Jul 2026
- Northern Superchargers acquisition (The Hundred) - Sun TV is acquiring 100% of Northern Superchargers Limited for GBP 100.5 million in cash, with completion expected on or before 31 December 2025. Management expects incremental consolidated revenue and profit from the current financial year (FY26), adding a third international cricket franchise to a segment that already contributed Rs. 662 crore in FY26.
- IPL and SA20 franchise revenue ramp-up - The consolidated cricket franchise business (SunRisers Hyderabad, SunRisers Eastern Cape, SunRisers Leeds) delivered Rs. 662 crore in revenue for the year ended March 2026. Management states revenue from the cricket franchise is expected to increase substantially in the coming years, scaling what is already a material earnings contributor.
- Content library monetisation across linear and OTT - The company now commissions its own programs rather than selling telecast slots, retaining ownership of most fiction content created in recent years and holding a considerable movie library across four languages. Commitments for film and program rights acquisitions rose to Rs. 354 crore as of March 2025 from Rs. 263 crore a year earlier, signalling a growing asset base that can be monetised repeatedly on both linear TV and OTT platforms.
- Language expansion into Bangla, Marathi, and Hindi - Sun TV has expanded beyond its four core southern states into Bangla, Marathi, and Hindi in recent years, with the Hindi foray beginning in FY24. This opens addressable audiences in India's three largest non-southern language markets, where the company's in-house content model can be replicated.
- Sun Direct DTH subscriber growth - New revenue from an increased DTH subscriber base in South India is expected to maintain positive momentum, driven by government digitalisation and addressability initiatives for cable television. As the largest regional television network, Sun TV is positioned to capture a share of this expanding direct-pay subscriber base, with a resource-sharing agreement already in place with Sun Direct GO Private Limited covering office space, manpower, technical know-how, and content rights.
