- 2030 wind target: Tanti called India’s 100 GW wind target by 2030 a “sure shot,” citing 103 GW of visibility across announced bids, projects under construction and C&I demand.
- 2035 ambition: He expects the current 155 GW wind target for 2035 to rise by almost 60% to about 250 GW. Adding 93 GW beyond the plan could save the government almost ₹2 lakh crore, he said.
- Transmission catch-up: The next 2 years will be tough as transmission lags faster renewable project timelines, but he expects the gap to close in 18 to 24 months, after which grid and project build-out should align.
- Southern growth: Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh could contribute almost 50% of the country’s wind requirements. Tamil Nadu has a little over 12 GW installed and needs to add 6 GW by 2030; Suzlon plans another ₹200 crore investment in the state, with its new facility expected to create around 1,000 jobs.
- Renewables economics: A wind-solar-storage bid designed to match a thermal plant’s load curve was priced below a new thermal project. Tanti argued renewables can meet near-term demand because they are quick to build, affordable and deployable across the country.
