- Smart villages: The company is working on smart utilities, agriculture and lighting to reach remote areas, using a LoRaWAN network covering more than 740 million-plus of population.
- Network applications: LoRaWAN infrastructure is used for smart-city and smart-lighting projects across 10 to 11 different cities, as well as asset management, enterprise use cases and power-system monitoring.
- BharatNet backhaul: Existing BharatNet infrastructure could provide the backhaul needed to connect smart-village services in rural and far-flung areas.
- Satcom opportunity: Satellite communication can connect places without terrestrial networks and support logistics movements across continents and inflight services. Arora said India’s sector needs to open up, with more satellites and faster-enabling regulation, and could see a mobile-phone-like shift from ₹17-₹18 a minute to practically free voice, with charges for data.
