- Mundra plant resolution: Tata Power finalized its PPA with primary procurer Gujarat (47.5% share) to eliminate coal cost under-recovery, with Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra expected to adopt identical terms. The 4,000 MW plant will operate at full capacity under Section 11 starting April 1 under a contract valid through 2038.
- Supply chain stability: Coal shipments from Indonesia, Australia, South Africa, and Mozambique, alongside solar wafer and ingot imports from China and Vietnam, remain stable without major logistical disruptions or price hikes.
- Peak power demand: India's summer electricity demand is projected to increase by around 6% year-on-year, with domestic generation ready to handle peak requirements of 270 GW. Electricity tariff increases are expected to remain contained at normal inflationary levels of 4–5% due to domestic coal and fixed 25-year renewable contracts.
- Data center supply: Tata Power currently supplies electricity to 7 data centers in Mumbai and expects annual nationwide capacity additions of 40 to 50 GW to easily satisfy the growing load from AI data centers and industrial expansion.
