Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report

as of Aug 2026

  1. Passenger coach ramp-up - Q1 FY27 PRS revenue hit ₹230 cr, +197% YoY, with 30 coaches dispatched and the vertical at 31% of revenue; management targets 45-50 coaches per quarter in FY27 and 850+ coaches per annum by FY28-29. At ₹10-12 cr per metro coach, that capacity translates to ₹8,000-8,500 cr potential revenue by 2029-30, against FY26 group revenue of ₹3,272 cr.
  2. Vande Bharat 80-train delivery - The ₹24,000 cr BHEL-TRSL contract ramps from 8 trains in year one to 25 trains per year, with the first train expected between end of Q3 and start of Q4 FY27. About 51% of car value flows to Titagarh, and regular production at 20-25 cars per month from Q4 FY27 makes this the single largest revenue driver in the order book.
  3. Metro order execution - Mumbai Line 5 & 6 (₹4,000 cr), Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Surat and Pune orders are being executed in parallel, with bulk of Bangalore and Gujarat deliveries inside FY27. Metro cars are done 100% in-house with no consortium, and FY27 deliveries are guided to roughly double the 100-120 cars targeted for FY26.
  4. Propulsion backward integration - First EMU propulsion set is RDSO-approved with a \~₹500 cr order book, and revenue starts from FY27; traction motor capacity targets 150 units per month. Propulsion margins of 15-20% at volume add 4-5% to group EBITDA once in-house propulsion rides on Vande Bharat and metro coaches.
  5. Aluminium coach line - The Pune Metro extension order (₹431 cr) is being used to install complete aluminium coach manufacturing from extrusion to final coach, with production starting Q1 FY27. This makes Titagarh the only Indian producer with both aluminium and stainless-steel complete manufacturing, and the aluminium line is the entry ticket to high-speed trains and exports.
  6. Forged wheel JV - The Ramkrishna Titagarh JV (49% held) is in hot trials with samples due August 2026, targeting 228,000 forged wheels per annum at \~₹2,000 cr project cost. Railways underwrite 80,000 wheels offtake for 20 years, and the plant ends the wheel-set shortage that cut Q3 FY26 freight revenue to \~₹600 cr from \~₹800 cr YoY.
  7. Wagon leasing license - Registered as a Wagon Leasing Company in February 2026, with the first contract - a 10-year, ₹44.41 cr lease of 2 rakes to Balmer Lawrie - already signed. Leasing adds a recurring revenue stream on top of manufacturing and opens the wagon maintenance market.
  8. Freight wagon tender cycle - The order book stands at \~5,300 wagons, all deliverable in FY27, with monthly production held at 600-650 wagons until Indian Railways issues a new tender. Railways' 300 crore-ton freight target by 2030, from \~160 crore tons today, means wagon demand can be deferred but not dropped, and capacity can scale to 1,000 wagons per month once tenders arrive.
  9. Shipbuilding at Falta - The brownfield shipyard, with \~₹600 cr capex and ₹169 cr secured under the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme, is engineered for ships up to 180 meters with annual capacity of 12-16 vessels. At ₹100-250 cr per vessel and 15-17% industry EBITDA margins, this is a new earnings leg being built in a wholly-owned subsidiary positioned for separate listing.
