West Coast Paper Mills Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report
as of Jul 2026
- OFC backward integration - The optical fibre draw towers plant at Fab City, Hyderabad started commercial production on 30 April 2025, using European equipment to supply fibre for both Mysore and Hyderabad cable units. Meeting fibre needs in-house removes the main input bottleneck that capped cable-division growth even as OFC sales rose 37% in FY25.
- Andhra Paper efficiency capex - Andhra Paper Limited, the 72.2% subsidiary, has declared a ₹450 cr capex programme to upgrade equipment and lift operational efficiency. With Andhra Paper contributing 255,550 TPA of paper capacity to the consolidated group, even a modest margin recovery from debottlenecking flows directly into consolidated earnings.
- Dandeli capacity expansion application - The company applied to the pollution control board in 2019 for permission to raise Dandeli paper production to 450,000 TPA from the current 320,000 MTPA. Approval would unlock a 40% volume step-up on the same 240-acre leasehold site where utilisation already runs at 99.6%.
- OFC Hyderabad capacity ramp - The new Hyderabad optical fibre cable unit doubled capacity and began commercial production in February 2024, with FY25 cable output already up 25% year-on-year to 105,481 km. As the expanded capacity fills, the telecom cable segment - which grew revenue from ₹262 cr to ₹342 cr in the latest two annual periods - adds a second earnings stream outside paper.
- Plywood entry via Uniply Décor - The company acquired plywood manufacturer Uniply Décor Limited in 2024 through an IBC resolution process. The acquisition places WCPML in a wood-panel market adjacent to its core paper business, with the potential to build a third product line from the same pulpwood procurement network.
- Farm forestry pulpwood security - The company distributed 1.5 crore saplings to farmers in the year to September 2025, covering 17,000 acres and taking cumulative plantation coverage to roughly 1 lakh acres. Securing the wood basket at a time when industry-wide pulpwood shortages are anticipated protects the 320,000 MTPA paper operation from raw-material cost spikes.
