Z F Steering Gear (India) Ltd Growth Catalysts - SOIC x StockScans Report
as of Jul 2026
- Aluminium Division ₹151 crore order - DriveSys’s Aluminium Division received a ₹151 crore order from a leading Indian conglomerate for machined aluminium parts for its Renewable Energy business, to be executed over 15 months. At roughly 26% of the group’s FY26 revenue of ₹571 crore, this single order materially scales the new division and provides near-term revenue visibility as the facility becomes operational.
- Metacast capacity tripling to 25,000 tonnes - The Board approved expanding the SG Iron casting capacity of the Metacast JV from 10,000 to 25,000 metric tonnes per annum, with a ₹25 crore investment and completion expected within 12-15 months. This removes the primary bottleneck for DriveSys’s machined-component volumes, since Metacast already runs at 90% utilisation and supplies exclusively to DriveSys.
- DriveSys Aluminium Division nearing completion - The \~₹100 crore Aluminium Division project at DriveSys, involving aluminium melting, extrusion, machining and fabrication, is nearing completion with ₹90 crore of capex already incurred. Moving from predominantly captive supplies (₹88.9 crore turnover in FY26, mostly to the parent) to third-party orders opens a new revenue stream from a fully funded asset.
- Electrical Division commercial production imminent - DriveSys’s Electrical Division (MCB/MCCB/RCB/MOC) has commenced trial runs and commercial production is expected shortly, subject to PPAP and statutory approvals. The ₹12 crore project diversifies the group into electrical equipment, a segment unrelated to auto cycles, with capex already at ₹9.2 crore.
- Parent plant modernisation in FY27 - The parent company has planned ₹35 crore in capex for FY27 to replace old machinery and add balancing equipment at its Pune and Pithampur factories. Modernising the legacy plants can lift throughput and margins in the core steering-gear business, which currently operates at a segment PBIT margin of just 4.87%.
- EHPAS framework with Hubei Tri-Ring - ZF Steering signed a Framework Co-operation Agreement with China’s Hubei Tri-Ring Motor Steering Gear Co. for joint development of Electric Hydraulic Power Assisted Steering assemblies in India. A partnership with an established EHPAS player offers a path into electric steering for CVs, a technology shift the company cannot address with its current hydraulic portfolio alone.
- New steering products for tractors and EVs - In FY26, the company productionised an HPAS system for tractors with integrated flow and pressure control (extending the range to 50HP), an IP67 PMSM motor for EV buses, and an Emergency Steering System with PMSM motor, pump, and ECU. These products open addressable markets in farm mechanisation and electric commercial vehicles beyond the core hydraulic CV segment.
