R K Swamy is India’s only listed integrated marketing services company - a 53-year-old group that started in advertising and has deliberately built a full suite of data, research and creative capabilities under one roof, so a client never has to go elsewhere. It began as a brand-building agency in 1973, once operated as a joint venture with BBDO, and listed on the main board of the NSE and BSE in March 2024 - the first in its category to do so. The recurring approach is a contrarian one: instead of specialising in one thing, the company keeps adding interrelated services - creative, media, analytics, research - because clients keep asking for more joined-up, efficient marketing.
Business segments
Four engines that span the full marketing workflow - from the founding creative-and-media business, through a data-and-technology platform that talks to customers directly, to a large-scale research arm that tells clients what consumers actually think - all feeding each other under a single-window model.
1. Integrated Marketing Communications: the founding creative-and-media engine
This is where the group began five decades ago, and it still produces the advertising, buys the media space and stages the events - now at a volume of thousands of campaigns and videos a year.
- Makes the ads and the content - the company conceives, scripts, shoots and delivers video and creative work across television, print, radio, outdoor, cinema and digital, operating at the premium end of the market. In FY25 it produced 957 videos and ran 1,853 campaigns, and it sometimes handles single-client projects requiring 300 to 500 videos at a time.
- Buys the media on behalf of clients - it plans and purchases space across every major channel, making it one of the most experienced media buyers in the country with over 50 years of practice.
- Stages events and integrates brands into content - the group pioneered curated special events, from product launches to employee celebrations, and specialises in weaving brands into programme content for greater impact. It also runs a dedicated healthcare communications team serving top pharmaceutical companies with direct-to-doctor and scientific content.
- Building its own digital studio to scale up - a new Digital Video Studio in South Bombay, with a lease signed and roughly INR 11 crores committed, is expected to open by the December 2026 quarter, bringing high-volume, multi-language production in-house and cutting reliance on outsourced shoots.
- Adding higher-value consulting on top - in May 2025 it launched a Brand and Marketing Consulting Group that combines strategy, digital experience, data and consumer insights, offered to its 400-plus national clients and the wider market.
2. Customer Data Analytics and Marketing Technology: the data-driven customer-engagement engine
This business runs the technology and the contact centres that let clients talk to millions of individual customers one-to-one, using data to decide what to say and when.
- Builds the data backbone for client relationships - it creates customer data platforms, maps customer journeys, builds single-customer views, segments audiences and delivers contextual messages across channels. In FY25 it managed nearly 167 million unique customer profiles and executed over 7.7 billion one-to-one campaigns.
- Operates the contact centres that talk to customers - through Customer Experience Centres, the company engages directly with clients’ customers using analytics-driven scripts and workflows. It expanded these centres by 600 seats during FY25, a near-50% capacity increase to 1,900 seats, and utilisation stood at almost 83% as of March 2026.
- Runs one of the country’s largest telephone survey networks - it added 346 stations to its Computer-Aided Telephonic Interview facilities, an 86% expansion from 400 to 746 stations, giving it extensive data-collection muscle.
3. Full-Service Market Research: the consumer-intelligence engine
This is the group’s research arm - it runs surveys, focus groups and syndicated studies at enormous scale to tell clients what Indian consumers think, feel and do.
- Measures what customers experience - the business assesses Net Promoter Score, customer satisfaction, transaction experience, employee satisfaction and more, using mystery audits and user-experience testing. In FY25 it conducted over 2.8 million interviews, including nearly 500,000 quantitative interviews and more than 2.2 million telephone interviews.
- Collects data through every channel available - it deploys face-to-face field force with computer-aided personal interviews, telephone centres, online panels, mobile panels, and digital tools like facial coding, eye-tracking, WhatsApp surveys and social-media polls.
- Serves global clients from India - it handles primary data collection in India and Asia for US, European and Asian clients, helps Indian companies research markets abroad, and runs full-service studies for international customers anywhere in the world.
- Publishes syndicated studies that multiple clients buy into - several companies can subscribe to a single large-sample study at a fraction of the cost of a custom report; one example was the largest-ever study of cricket viewership during the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Group structure and partners
The listed parent holds two main operating subsidiaries - one for data analytics and one for research - while the group’s well-known brand names are licensed from a promoter entity.
- R K Swamy Limited is the listed parent, with a unified management structure and its corporate office in Mumbai.
- Hansa Customer Equity Private Limited and Hansa Direct Private Limited run the Customer Data Analytics and MarTech business as wholly owned material subsidiaries.
- Hansa Research Group Private Limited runs the Full-Service Market Research business as a wholly owned material subsidiary.
- The ‘R K SWAMY’ and ‘Hansa’ trademarks and the Hansa bird logo are licensed from Hansa Vision India Private Limited, a promoter group company; it can charge a royalty of up to 0.5% of consolidated net revenue but has waived that right through FY2027.
- The company was formerly known as R.K. SWAMY BBDO Private Limited, reflecting a historical joint venture with BBDO that has since been exited.
